When I sleep both my hands close automatically. I try sleeping with thick gloves on to prevent them from closing, but when I wake up my knuckles are stiff and painful. The pain subsides quickly as I start to wiggle my fingers, but I’m not sure what is happening or why. It doesn’t sound like symptoms of carpal tunnel or arthritis, but could it be early stages of arthritis?

February 2nd, 2010Hi, I’m 12 and wondered if it was possible that I’m developing premature arthritis. I never ever stop shaking. If I hold my hand out at any time it will be shaking like mad, I never feel cold or scared and my blood pressure is on the lower side for my age. I have very long, thin fingers they are size xxsmall but are so long that I have to wear men’s sized gloves. Now my ring fingers and little fingers are going looking really bendy and wonky. I wondered if this was arthritis and if it’s a problem. I hope it’s not ‘cos I love to write, play the flute and sew and if I did have arthritis that would mean I couldn’t do those things well wouldn’t it?

January 25th, 2010I bought a pretty heavy punching bag a few months back. I started punching it without gloves. But sometimes when I punch hard my wrist would bend. But the pain goes away after few seconds. And I’ve heard that punching the bag without gloves is essential to make your knuckles hard. But does this have any effect on the longer run? Would I get arthritis in the future because of this?
