I am 14 and have come home from a day out (it was very cold and i had no gloves on) to discover that my index finger on my right hand and my little finger on my left has swelled in the middle where the joint is. When i bend them they feel tight and it hurts a little. It feels like there is liquid trapped there. Does anyone know what this is and what might of caused it? im getting worried that it might be arthritis of something! Thanks(:

What Do Your Hands Say About You?

February 24th, 2010

Mine have scars and freckles from working in the garden too often without gloves. I have callouses on my fingertips from years of strumming the guitar. The blood veins are dark and raised. The nails are in need of a manicure. My knuckles are beginning to show signs of arthritis. But they have felt the fevers of sick children, touched a baby’s cheek and have shaken the hands of a couple of Presidents and they are me. How do you feel about your hands?:

I am only 16, so I think I might be a little young for arthritis or something like that. I also need to be able to keep my hand normal in colder tempatures for my job without gloves.
What is this, and how can I prevent it?

Arthritis Help?

February 14th, 2010

Pain in my hands has developed to the point where daily activities hurt, knitting and writing especially. What do you all do to relieve the pain? I’ve seen compression gloves mentioned. Do those help? Is one brand better than another? Would they help with hands that aren’t swollen? Are there tinctures that would help?

Clicking Joints/arthritis?

February 12th, 2010

Many of my joints click (my right foot, my knees, my right shoulder, my elbows, my wrists and my knuckles all click) and im getting seriously worried that i may get arthritis (i’m only 16) and am particularly worried about my hands (my wrists and knuckles). Its been a bad habit for a couple of years now is there any type of physiotherapy or anything i can do that will stop the clicking? Perhaps there’s some kind of glove or something I can put my hands into that won’t let them click??
Thank you in advance for any help.

Is Rheumatic Arthritis An Infection?

February 8th, 2010

I guess wearing a glove in wet or high humidity times was a practical experience in the late nighteenth and early twentieth centuries garment mode, and washing hands often is also helps to prevent infections.
I wear also a glove outside when wet – it is for not just against cold
