Arthritis Help?

February 14th, 2010 by akkakevin Leave a reply »

Pain in my hands has developed to the point where daily activities hurt, knitting and writing especially. What do you all do to relieve the pain? I’ve seen compression gloves mentioned. Do those help? Is one brand better than another? Would they help with hands that aren’t swollen? Are there tinctures that would help?

I don’t want to sound like a broken record here, but have you been to your doctor about this? Do you have a definite diagnosis? What type of arthritis do you have?
Massaging your hands gently with a blend of essential oils that have analgesic properties will help. Black pepper and geranium helps me.
Heat, in the form of a little wheat bag that you can warm in the microwave and then rest on your hands (be careful not to make it too hot) will also help ease it.
But make sure that you keep your hands and fingers moving within your own limits. Otherwise your hands may well get worse.
    Hope this helps.

I’ve heard compression gloves are good, but they are to help with swelling, not with the pain of arthritis.
